Daily streaks

• One answered question a day is enough to extend it.
• Every 7th day earns a streak freeze, and you can hold two.
• A freeze bridges one missed day automatically — miss more days than you hold freezes and the streak resets to 1.
• Days are your own local days, and you choose the reminder hour.

XP & levels

• 10 XP for an easy question, 20 for medium, 40 for hard.
• 500 XP per level.
• Passing a Mastery Challenge adds 100, and a perfect score another 50.
• Buying a heart draws on your spendable balance — your total and your level never go down.

Hearts are your lives

• 10 hearts, refilled once at the start of your local day.
• A wrong answer costs one; running out pauses quizzes until they refill.
• 50 XP buys one back, up to the same cap of 10.
• A hint before you answer halves that question's XP — but it costs no heart.

Weekly leagues

• Three divisions: Bronze, Silver, Gold.
• The top 20% of a division promote; the bottom 20% relegate.
• Weeks reset on Monday, and nothing carries over.
• Divisions under 4 people move nobody — finishing top of three would mean nothing.

Mastery challenges

• Unlocks once your best Practice score reaches 80%.
• You need 90% to pass it.
• Its Easy/Medium/Hard mix adapts to how you've actually performed in that chapter.
• Retakes are unlimited, and your best score is the one that counts.

Practice & Mixed Review

• The ladder is 1, 3, 7, 14, 30, then 90 days.
• Get one right and it moves up a rung; get it wrong and it drops back to tomorrow.
• Both modes spend hearts like any other quiz — real practice, not free retries.
• Mastered chapters keep cycling back in, so nothing quietly goes stale.

Item sets & worked examples

• An item set's steps are answered in order — the server rejects a skip-ahead.
• Its questions never appear in ordinary quizzes, so a set is always seen whole.
• Worked examples are ungraded: no hearts, no XP, nothing to get wrong.
• You reveal a worked example one step at a time, at your own pace.

Quests & achievements

• Quests come in daily and weekly flavours and refresh on their own.
• 25 questions in a day hits the daily goal for a 100 XP bonus.
• Badges are awarded the next time you open the page they belong to — there's no overnight job.

Know where you stand

• Readiness multiplies three things: how much you've mastered, how accurate you've been lately, and how current your reviews are.
• Because they multiply, letting any one slide pulls the whole score down.
• A chapter's mastery goes stale after 60 days without activity.
• Calibration compares how sure you said you were against how you actually did.

Today's plan

• Never more than three items, so it stays a plan and not a backlog.
• Due reviews come first, then your weakest blueprint topic, then deadline pacing.
• It's rebuilt every time you load the dashboard — nothing is cached overnight.
• No deadline set? Everything works the same, just without the pacing item.

Verifiable certificates

• Earned per section, and again for a whole book.
• The QR resolves to a public verification page.
• Anyone can check it without an account — no login, no StudyOwl profile.
• It lists the curriculum it covers, so it says what you actually did.

Friends & study groups

• Friends are added by invite code only — nobody lands on your list without consent.
• Appearing on a leaderboard is opt-in, and off until you turn it on.
• Everything social stays inside your own organization.
• You can remove a friend, or block and report another learner, at any time.
